Woman seriously injured after suspect fires ‘multiple rounds’ at vehicle leaving Burlington gym

Police in Halton Region are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old woman was shot in the head while driving in Burlington early Monday morning.
Police say the woman was leaving the parking lot of The Playground Global gym on Century Drive near Appleby Line and the QEW, when “multiple rounds” were fired at her vehicle and one of the shots struck her in the head.
Paramedics rushed the woman to hospital where she is listed in serious but stable condition.
Police believe the suspect was standing outside a light-coloured vehicle when shots were fired. The suspect fled north on Century Drive towards South Service Road.
It is not yet known why the woman or her vehicle were targeted.
Investigators are also seeking dashcam footage from the area, as well as from Appleby Line and Burloak Drive.
