Mountain of empty beer cans greet officers at Ontario RIDE check, driver charged

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers in Grey County charged a driver with impaired after a daytime R.I.D.E. check led to the discovery of a small mountain of empty beer cans in the passenger seat.
OPP West Region shared a photo of the vehicle on social media, noting that officers pulled over the driver around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday in Grey Bruce region.
“Sometimes we get asked, ‘why do you conduct RIDE programs during the day?’ — This is why,” the tweet read.
A 61-year-old driver was charged with impaired driving, eight driving-related suspensions, property obtained by crime, and several [Highway Traffic Act] charges.
No one was injured, and police did not reveal the gender of the accused driver.
