Halton police are searching for two suspects accused of committing a string of crimes in a stolen truck before violently carjacking another vehicle in Milton.
Officers witnessed a stolen white pickup truck weaving in and out of traffic in the area of Derry Road and Holly Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The 2014 Ford F150 has been reported stolen in Peel Region on Jan. 7.
Investigators allege the truck approached a police cruiser and then fled the area at high speeds. The truck became involved in two hit-and-run collisions shortly after and was spotted several times “driving erratically.”
Around 9:35 a.m., the truck pulled into a gas station near Bronte and Main streets where the suspects allegedly drove off after filling up the truck with gas.
The stolen vehicle was then seen driving through a fence of a nearby school and into a playground where children were playing. Police say no injuries were reported during the crime spree.
A few minutes later, officers responded to a carjacking in a grocery store parking lot in the area of Louis St. Laurent Avenue and Thompson Road.
Investigators say the same stolen truck struck a Honda CRV in the parking lot. Two suspects then exited the truck and smashed the driver window of the Honda.
The suspects forced a female out of the driver’s seat and took control of the vehicle. Video shot by a bystander in the parking lot shows one of the suspects throwing the victim to the ground before the pair speed away inside the CRV.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The stolen Honda CRV was found unoccupied by officers in Brampton just before 3 p.m. on the same day.
Police are looking for two suspects, including a white male who is approximately six-feet-two inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a grey sweater.
The second suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a dark coloured hoodie. Police released a photo of one of the suspects.

“This is a shocking and violent crime that put the lives of many Milton residents at risk. We are dedicating all available resources and will relentlessly pursue those responsible and hold them accountable,” says Halton Regional Police Service Supt. Dave Stewart.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
