Longer wait times coming to these TTC bus routes and subway lines in March

The Toronto Transit Commission will adjust scheduling on almost 40 of its bus routes next month as part of its plan to align service with demand.
As of March 26, the TTC noted that 37 daytime routes and two overnight routes will see service times adjusted, which will mean longer wait times for customers on 11 of the routes affected.
Customers on 24 other routes will see shorter wait times in some periods of the day and longer wait times in other periods, while two routes will have shorter wait times overall.
The following routes will see wait times of four minutes or longer under the new schedule changes:
- 122 Graydon Hall (Mon-Fri-Midday) – 11 min
- 905 Eglinton East Express (Sat-Afternoon) – 7 min
- 9 Bellamy (Sat-Afternoon) – 6 min
- 9 Bellamy (Sat-Early evening) – 6 min
- 9 Bellamy (Sun/hol-Afternoon) – 6 min
- 133 Neilson (Mon-Fri-Late evening) – 6 min
- 133 Neilson (Sun/hol-Late evening) – 6 min
- 905 Eglinton East Express (Mon-Fri-Morning peak) – 6 min
- 905 Eglinton East Express (Mon-Fri-Afternoon peak) – 6 min
- 78 St Andrews (Mon-Fri-Afternoon peak) – 5 min
- 905 Eglinton East Express (Sun/hol-Morning) – 5 min

In addition to bus routes, two TTC subway lines will also see longer wait times.
Although Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) will see wait time improvements during the Monday to Friday morning rush, all other day parts will see the same or longer waits.
The same can’t be said for Line 4 (Sheppard), as all day parts have a proposed unchanged or longer wait times.
The recommendations and the routes affected are contained in a report to be presented at the next TTC Board Meeting on Feb. 28. The TTC’s $2.4 billion Operating Budget, which was recently approved by Toronto City Council, forecasts that ridership will increase to 75 per cent of pre-COVID levels by the end of the year.

Service levels are being adjusted down from 96 per cent to 91 per cent of pre-COVID levels.
The TTC says it will continue to monitor and evaluate the effects of the changes on ridership throughout the year and make any necessary adjustments “should demand begin to exceed capacity on any of these routes.”
The plan is expected to reduce operating costs at the TTC by $50 million in 2023.
