Police suspect arson in downtown Toronto restaurant fire

Police are on scene investigating a suspicious early morning fire at a restaurant in downtown Toronto.
Emergency crews were called to a two-alarm fire at a three-storey commercial building on Brant Street, just north of King, just after 4 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters were met with heavy smoke and a first floor patio of Myth Restaurant was fully engulfed in flames. Investigators believe the blaze began on the patio and spread inside to the first and second floors of the building.
The fire was knocked down shortly after crews arrived. Fire crews remain on scene checking for hotspots.
No injuries have been reported and there was no damage to neighbouring buildings.

Police tell CityNews they suspect arson and say a gas can was located at the scene.
“The entire team at Myth is reeling from the devastating news of a fire at our venue,” reads a statement from a spokesperson with the restaurant. “We are in shock and disbelief but also incredibly grateful that no one was injured as a result.
“Myth will remain closed until further notice.”
The restaurant says they will cooperate with local fire and police in “whatever capacity they require.”
Adelaide Street remains closed from Brant to Spadina Avenue for the investigation. Brant is closed from Adelaide to King Street.
