Tesla driver charged with impaired driving in fiery downtown crash

A female driver has been charged with impaired driving after a fiery single-vehicle crash in downtown Toronto.

The collision occurred around 11:45 p.m. Sunday near Adelaide and York streets.

Police say a Tesla was travelling eastbound on Adelaide when it lost control and struck a barrier. The car caught fire but it was quickly extinguished when emergency crews arrived.

The woman driver was taken into custody for impaired driving. Police say she was not injured in the crash.

Adelaide was closed in the area for the investigation but roads have since reopened.
