By Lucas Casaletto

Toronto police are searching for a man wanted in an alleged hate crime after the suspect shouted anti-LGBTQ+ remarks and assaulted a transit rider while aboard a TTC subway.

Investigators were notified of the incident on March 12 at approximately 10 p.m. when the man boarded the eastbound TTC subway (Line 2) at Islington Station.

It’s alleged that one person was approached by the man, who yelled anti-LGBTQ+ remarks at them. The man then pushed them, causing an injury to their leg.

The wanted man is described as between 50 to 55 years old, around 220-230 pounds, with a large build and shaggy red/brown hair past his ears.

He has a long reddish beard and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a red or black plaid jacket.

Toronto police released a composite sketch of the suspect in hopes of identifying him.
