Convicted murderer returned to prison after escape in Kingston

Police have located a man convicted of second-degree murder who escaped from a minimum-security unit at a federal prison in Kingston, Ont.

The Correctional Service of Canada says staff discovered Joshua Kenneth Kohl, 42, was missing during a formal count at the Collins Bay Institution on Tuesday.

The correctional service says Kingston Police were contacted immediately and a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed with CityNews that Kohl was located near the prison and brought back into custody.

He is serving an indeterminate sentence at the multi-level federal prison.
