Search for unclaimed $70M Scarborough lottery winner ongoing as deadline draws near

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) says the search for an unclaimed $70-million Lotto Max jackpot winner in Scarborough drags on as the deadline draws near.

In late May, the OLG said no one had claimed the jackpot draw from June 28, 2022, and it will expire exactly one year from that date. The $70 million winning ticket was purchased at an authorized lottery retailer in Scarborough.

In an update, an OLG spokesperson said on Tuesday that the life-changing amount of money is still waiting for the rightful owner.

The winning numbers for the June 28, 2022, Lotto Max draw are — 8, 19, 22, 41, 42, 46, 47 [and] Bonus 10,” the OLG wrote in a news release.

“We ask OLG lottery players to check places where they usually store their tickets, such as in clothing pockets, personal accessories (i.e. handbags, backpacks, wallets, computer bags), your vehicle’s glove compartments or sun-visors, kitchen, bedroom or office drawers.”

The OLG’s Director of Media Relations, Tony Bitonti, told CityNews the possibility that the person who bought the winning ticket in Scarborough died before scooping up their millions is just one of the many scenarios that could account for the riches remaining unclaimed.

“We have had customers who have passed away before claiming tickets in smaller prizes,” Bitonti told CityNews on May 25.

“There are a million scenarios out there that could possibly happen. We are just hoping that the customer is still around and has maybe stored the ticket somewhere in a jacket, in a glove compartment, in the junk drawer in the kitchen.”

If you think you purchased this winning Lotto Max ticket, contact the OLG at 1-800-387-0098.

“No one has checked this ticket since the draw,” Bitonti stressed. “It’s quite unusual … which leads us to suspect potentially that the ticket has been lost, but we don’t know for sure.”

There will be an OLG Lotto Max draw on Tuesday night, offering a $70 million jackpot plus an estimated 16 “MAXMILLIONS,” each worth $1 million, totalling $86 million in top prizes.
