A Brampton man is facing charges after he allegedly robbed a bank last week while claiming he was wearing an explosive device.
Police say the suspect attended a bank on Thursday in the Main Street and Queen Street area of Brampton.
Once inside, he allegedly demanded money and told an employee he had an “explosive device.” Police say he was wearing a weighted vest at the time of the robbery.
The bank employee handed over a quantity of cash and the suspect fled the area on foot.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect and he was arrested shortly after. Officers executed a search warrant at a Brampton home and recovered stolen money and clothing that was worn during the robbery.
Police were able to concluded that the weighted vest did not actually contain explosives.
Jordan Krane, 33, has been charged with robbery. Police say further charges could be laid as the investigation continues.
Krane appeared in a Brampton courtroom on Friday for a bail hearing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators with the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau at (905) 453-2121 ext. 3410.
