A 36-year-old man is dead after he was shot inside his vehicle in a daylight shooting near Toronto’s Moss Park neighbourhood.
Police responded to a call in the Shuter and Sherbourne Streets area at approximately 12:14 p.m. on Tuesday.
Duty Insp. Peter Wehby told reporters at the scene that a citizen approached officers about the sound of gunshots in a parking lot.
Insp. Wehby said officers then found a man unresponsive in a car suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have since identified the victim as Mohamed Ahmed, of Toronto.
Investigators believe the shooting was not random, and evidence indicates it was targeted, Insp. Wehby said. Police believe the male victim and suspect or suspects were known to each other.
It’s unknown if anyone else was in the vehicle with the victim at the time of the shooting.
There is no suspect information at this time.
