Woman struck and killed in Oakwood Village

A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in the Oakwood Village neighbourhood.
Police say a 65-year-old man was driving a GMC Sierra pick-up truck and was making a left-hand turn from Atlas Avenue onto Vaughan Road just before 7 p.m. Friday when it struck an 84-year-old woman, who was attempting to cross the street.
Insp. Peter Wehby said it did not appear the woman was in a crosswalk at the time of the incident.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and no charges have been laid at this time.
An investigation is ongoing by traffic services and local residents, businesses and drivers who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident are asked to contact police.
