Police seek suspect in arson of under-construction homes in Brampton

Peel Regional Police are on the hunt for a suspect after several under-construction homes in Brampton were set on fire.

Luckily the homes were unoccupied at the time, but two Brampton firefighters suffered non life-threatening injuries while trying to douse the flames.

The arsons, which caused extensive property damage, took place between July 6 and July 24 in the Valleyway Drive and Chinguacousy Road area.

Investigators say all the fires were lit between 1:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m.

A suspect was captured on surveillance video that was released by police on Friday.

The video shows a suspect running away after setting a fire. As he sprints from the scene, glowing flames can be seen spreading inside the home.

The suspect wore a black hooded jacket, pants, gloves and white shoes and was carrying a blue bag.

Police have also identified a vehicle of interest, described as a silver/grey newer model four-door Jeep Wrangler with a steel top roof.
