Man pushed at Bloor subway station dies weeks later in hospital, charges upgraded

Toronto police have upgraded charges against a man after the person he allegedly pushed at Bloor Subway Station died in hospital several weeks after the incident.
Police were called to the station on Friday, July 7, just before 7 p.m. for reports of an assault.
Investigators say the suspect approached the victim, pushing him to the ground.
The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics.
On August 4, the victim, identified as Menghsteab Araia, 69, of Toronto, died from injuries stemming from the assault, police said.
As a result of his death, the charges against the accused have been upgraded.
Lovingston Williams, 40, of Toronto, was initially charged with aggravated assault and obstructing police. He is now facing charges of manslaughter and obstructing police.
