Elderly man dies in fire at Toronto Community Housing building for seniors

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire at a Toronto Community Housing building in Scarborough that claimed the life of an elderly man.
Toronto Fire says the two-alarm blaze broke out on the fourth floor of an apartment building at Brimley Road and St. Clair Avenue East around 7:30 a.m.
Firefighters pulled a man in his 70s out of the unit, and paramedics rushed him to hospital with critical injuries, where he later died.
The fire, which is now out, did not spread to other units in the apartment building, where mainly seniors reside.
It is not yet known what caused the fire.
