Motorcyclist dead after crash involving impaired driver in Vaughan

A man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car being driven by an alleged impaired driver in Vaughan.

Police in York Region tell CityNews they responded to a crash at Highway 7 and Jane Street just after midnight on Monday.

Police say a man was sent flying off his Harley Davidson motorcycle after colliding with a car. The bike burst into flames shortly after the crash.

A 55-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead in hospital. The driver of a Honda Civic remained at the scene and was not injured.

York Regional Police say 21-year-old Nicholas Fiorucci of Bolton, Ont. has been charged with impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 80-plus.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.

Roads were closed in the area but they have since reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
