Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest after a road maintenance worker was struck by a vehicle that entered a closed off construction zone on Highway 401 near Victoria Park Avenue early Tuesday morning.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the worker was painting lines on the highway when he was struck by a black Corvette that entered the closed off area and then fled the scene.
Schmidt said the worker suffered “life-altering” injuries and remains in hospital.
“The vehicle and driver have now been located and identified,” Schmidt confirmed in a video posted to social media on Wednesday.
