Shooting at Oshawa home leaves man in 20s dead

A man is dead following an early morning shooting in Oshawa on Thursday.

Durham Regional Police say officers were called to a house on Albert Street, in the area of Simcoe Street and Highway 401, around 2:25 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

A man in his 20s was found at the home with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss says there were multiple people inside the residence when the shooting occurred. The occupants all fled before officers arrived.

No suspect information has been made available.

Police are now asking anyone who was inside the home and any other witnesses to come forward. Bortoluss says officers will be canvassing the area throughout the day.

The Durham Regional Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
