Suspect sought after student stabbed at Scarborough high school

Toronto police are searching for a suspect after a student was stabbed at a high school in Scarborough on Wednesday.

Officers were called Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute near Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue East around 12 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

In a letter sent home to parents, Principal Carol Richards-Sauer says an altercation between students in a school stairwell triggered a “brief” hold and secure at the school.

“Staff quickly intervened and de-escalated the situation, and Toronto Police were contacted and immediately arrived to investigate,” said Richards-Sauer.

Paramedics say a young male student was found at the scene and transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are searching for a male suspect described as five feet four inches tall with blonde hair and a grey hoodie.
