Boy, 13, arrested in Pickering stabbing that seriously injured another teen

Police in Durham Region have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection to a stabbing in Pickering that left another teen with serious injuries.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, officers responded to an armed person call in the area of Kingston Road and Orchard Valley Court, near Highway 401 and Brock Road.

Police located a 15-year-old boy at the scene with a stab wound.

Paramedics transported the teen to a Toronto hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The victim’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.

The 13-year-old suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. Police say the suspect turned himself to police on Sunday, Oct. 29.

The teen faces four charges including assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and failure to comply with an undertaking. He has been held for a bail hearing.

Police say the suspect and the injured teen knew each other, but haven’t provided details on what led to the stabbing.
