Niagara man arrested after gunpoint home invasion in Etobicoke

A Niagara man is facing charges after a gunpoint home invasion in Etobicoke earlier this month.
Toronto police say officers were called to a home in the area of Kipling and Evans avenues on the morning of Jan. 14 for reports of a person with a gun.
Police allege a suspect knocked on the door of a home and when a resident answered, the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed at at their chest, forcing his way inside.
Once inside the home, the suspect started demanding cash.
Police say the victim was able escape and flee the area. The suspect left empty-handed, got into a waiting vehicle and drove away from the area.
Officers with the Toronto Police Hold Up Squad, with help from Niagara Regional Police and Peel Regional Police, executed two search warrants on Jan. 30.
Niagara resident James Waylon Maxwell, 40, is facing several charges including armed robbery and drug possession.
The accused was due in a Toronto courtroom on Wednesday morning.
