Oshawa woman facing impaired charges after wrong way crash involving snowplow

A woman from Oshawa is facing impaired driving charges after a wrong way crash involving a snowplow in York Region.

York Regional Police say officers responded to the crash near Vellore Woods Boulevard and Major Mackenzie Drive West around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators say the car was driving the wrong way prior to the collision and ended up crashing into a snowplow.

The driver was arrested at the scene after their blood alcohol was found to be over the legal limit. Police also found an open alcohol container and a flask inside the vehicle.

A 27-year-old woman from Oshawa has been charged and had her licence suspended for 90 days. The vehicle was impounded for seven days.

A winter storm left commuters with a messy afternoon commute on Thursday as the first significant snowfall of the month hit the GTA.
