Three people, including a 14-year-old, are facing charges following an armed home invasion robbery in Brampton, Peel Regional Police said.
It’s alleged that in the early morning hours of Nov. 28, 2023, four suspects attended a residence near McLaughlin Road and Queen Street, where they forced entry while the victims were inside.
Police said the suspects concealed their identities with disguises and demanded property and money from the homeowners. None of the victims suffered any physical injuries.
Authorities identified three suspects in connection with the armed home invasion robbery, and police said search warrants were executed at three residences where property related to the crime was found.
Two male adults were identified as 21-year-old Nanayaw Kwarten and 19-year-old Mark Obohat, both of Mississauga.
Kwarten faces several charges, including robbery, disguise with intent and six counts of failing to comply with a release order, among other similar offences. Police said Kwarten was on a judicial release and bound by a probation order with strict conditions at the time of his arrest.
Obohat was charged with robbery, disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime. A third suspect, a 14-year-old from Mississauga, was also charged with robbery, disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime.
The teenager was not identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
All three suspects appeared in court on Feb. 23, 2024. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and a fourth suspect is being sought. Additional charges are expected to be laid in the future.
