Construction worker dies after falling into trench at Etobicoke job site

A construction worker has died after falling into a trench at a job site in Etobicoke on Tuesday evening.

Crews were called to the scene at around 5:14 p.m. after the worker, a man in his 30s, fell into the trench in the Bemersyde Drive and Ravensbourne Crescent area.

He was extricated and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was pronounced dead.

Toronto police say the Ministry of Labour was called to the scene to conduct an investigation.

In an update on Wednesday, the ministry said one requirement was issued to the constructor, Inter-Pro Service Interlocking.
