Peel Regional Police have arrested two people in connection to a violent home invasion in Brampton two years ago that saw one of the suspect’s allegedly fire a gunshot at the homeowner.
The frightening incident occurred in the early morning hours of November 11, 2022 at a home in the Mississauga Road and Sandalwood Parkway area.
Investigators say four suspects pulled up the driveway of the home and forced the homeowner into the garage at gunpoint.
“Demands were made for money and the victim was struck in the head with a firearm,” a police release states.
Three other suspects then entered the home, which was occupied by the victim’s wife, his parents, and four children.
“The other three suspects entered the home and confronted the rest of the family making similar demands for money,” the release adds. “As the victim attempted to flee the garage, one suspect fired a shot in his direction which fortunately missed. The suspects then fled the area in a stolen vehicle.”
The victim and his father, who was struck by a suspect with a hammer, were both treated for minor injuries, police said.
On February 9, 2024, a 17-year-old male was charged with numerous robbery and weapons offences. He can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
On December 13, 2024, a second suspect was charged.
Shaquille Martin, 32, of Brampton, was also charged with robbery and weapons offences.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and more charges could be laid.
