3 injured during jewellery store robbery in Rexdale after truck crashes into front window

Three people have been injured following a brazen robbery in Rexdale.

A pickup truck crashed into the front window of Raj’s Jewellery on Islington Avenue near Albion Road just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the thieves entered the store and took a quantity of merchandise before fleeing the area.

Paramedics tell CityNews two men and a woman were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

There were no immediate suspect descriptions.

The robbery appeared to mimic a similar incident on December 6 where the driver of a truck reversed and crashed through the front window of Ancaster Jewellers. Five people were arrested in that robbery.

It is the latest in a series of smash-and-grab robberies that have plagued the GTA since the beginning of the month.
