Winter warm up, heavy rain forecasted this weekend in Toronto

Temperatures are expected to reach double digits in Toronto and some parts of the GTA this weekend, and the winter warm-up will also bring heavy periods of rain.

Light rain showers are expected on Saturday morning in the city, with temperatures at 5 C. A daytime high of 10 C is forecasted for the afternoon, with foggy conditions in the evening hours.

Toronto’s temperatures will be slightly cooler on Sunday but above seasonal, with many waking up to 3 C tomorrow morning. Rain is forecasted to begin around 8 a.m. and become heavier as the day continues.

By Sunday’s end, Toronto could see upwards of 25 to 30 millimetres of rain.

The showers will become lighter overnight into Monday as temperatures are forecasted to stay around the 10 C mark to start the new week. It will gradually become colder as the day progresses, making it feel like -2 by Monday afternoon.

The average daytime high for Toronto around this time of the year is 1 C.
