Multiple tow truck drivers injured in separate shootings in Scarborough: police

Targeted shootings involving tow truck drivers continued on Thursday, with three men all wounded in separate incidents across Scarborough, including one victim who suffered serious injuries in a drive-by shooting.

Authorities were notified of a shooting incident just before midnight in the Lawrence Avenue and Greencrest Circuit area.

A male victim was located with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and transported to a hospital.

Police tell 680News Radio that they’re investigating this as a targeted, drive-by shooting, noting that the victim was sitting in his tow truck around 11:30 p.m. when the driver of a dark-coloured Honda pulled up, and a gunman opened fire.

More than 10 shots were fired, police said.

No suspect description was provided, and the investigation is ongoing.

Earlier on Thursday, at around 5 p.m., police were called to the Markham Road and Passmore Avenue area following reports of gunshots. The driver of a dark-coloured vehicle fled the scene, and police said that two male victims attended a hospital on their own with injuries.

680News Radio verified that both victims, said to be in their 20s, are tow truck operators. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

This is the third shooting this week where the victims have been tow truck drivers. Police wouldn’t confirm if these incidents are connected, and the investigations are ongoing.
