    One person is in police custody following an hours-long standoff with Peel Police after a man was reportedly shot at a home in Mississauga on Friday morning. Jazan Grewal reports.

    Peel Regional Police say one man is in custody after a shooting inside a Mississauga home on Friday.

    Officers say the shooting happened around 10 a.m. at a residence on Beacon Lane near Perivale Road, which is less than half a kilometre away from St. David of Wales School.

    The proximity prompted a hold and secure at the school. Students were eventually safely removed from the school under police supervision as a precaution.

    The suspect was allegedly holed up inside the home for multiple hours before police said he was taken into custody around 10 p.m.

    The victim, a man believed to be in his 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

    Police describe the shooting as “targetted” and say the victim and suspect know each other, but didn’t give details on the nature of their relationship.
