High school swimmer making a splash to support women’s shelters – one handbag at a time

High school athlete Sara Gomes began swimming recreationally as a child, then fell in love with the competitive element in high school. She competes in several freestyle sprint events and relays.

Sara Gomes is a standout grade 10 swimmer – specializing in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, and medley relay, but she’s also making a big impact out of the water.

She created “Helping Handbags” after a conversation with her parents in elementary school – an organization that works to provide women in need with toiletries and everyday essentials.
