Driver critically injured in Hwy. 7 crash in Whitby

A driver is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Whitby.

Emergency crews responded to the scene on Highway 7 near Highway 412 just before 9 a.m. on Monday.

Provincial police say a vehicle got wedged under a straight truck.

It’s not yet known what led to the crash.

Police had closed Highway 7 in both directions at Highway 412 but the westbound lanes reopened around 3 p.m. Only one eastbound lane has reopened.

The on-ramp from Highway 7 to southbound Highway 412 is closed for environmental cleanup.
