Three Injured In Overnight Highway Accidents

An early morning accident sent two people to hospital and forced the closure of a portion of the Don Valley Parkway for several hours.

A motorist lost control of his car around 3am Sunday on the northbound lanes of the DVP at Don Mills. Both the driver and his passenger were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the crash which closed the northbound DVP between Don Mills and Eglinton.

The lanes reopened just before 8am, but one was expected to be blocked for a while longer as crews repair damage done to a pole and guardrail in the accident.

And another person was taken to hospital following an accident on the Niagara-bound Queen Elizabeth Way near Dixie early Sunday.

A car went off the road and plunged several meters down an embankment around 1:45am. The driver was the only one in the car and was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The OPP believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.

And the road woes continued Sunday night, when a mother, her 13-month-old baby and two police officers were hurt in a west end crash.

A police cruiser lost a door in acollision with a mini-van which happened at Black Creek Drive and Eglinton. Police were responding to a call with their lights and sirens on.

None of the injuries are serious.
