Some residents of a Mississauga condo were allowed to return home Sunday, three days after a water pipe burst and flooded the building.
Fire and emergency back-up systems, electricity and elevators are now working at 4080 Living Arts Dr., and heating is back on from the seventh floor and above, where residents are being allowed back in. Floors six and below still remain evacuated.
A hot water pipe broke in a sixth-floor unit Thursday morning, knocking out power to the first five floors of the complex and causing major damage.
The woman who lives in the apartment suffered first-degree burns to her legs from the scalding water, which also killed her two cats.
During the ordeal, a pregnant woman went into labour on the 23rd floor and an elderly woman reported having chest pains.
