Cab driver guilty of manslaughter in skateboarder’s death

Cab driver Adib Ibrahim has been found guilty of manslaughter in the death of skateboarder Ralph Bissonette.

The jury returned their verdict on Friday. Ibrahim had been charged with second-degree murder.

Bissonette, 28, died after an incident while he was riding his longboard on King Street East, near Jarvis and George streets, in May of 2012.

Prosecutors alleged Ibrahim killed Bissonnette in a fit of road rage.

In court last month, Crown attorney Hank Goody said that after a verbal exchange Ibrahim veered “sharply” into Bissonnette’s path, cracking his longboard.

“He drove over him, up onto the curb where his head was laying, and over his face. There was no reason to drive at him, other than to hit him,” Goody argued.
