A 24-year-old Markham woman is fighting for her life after a two-metre-long piece of metal crashed through her windshield late Tuesday night.
Ontario Provincial Police saw the woman was driving in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 just west of Rougemount Drive in Pickering when debris from a tow truck smashed into her car.
It happened around 8:30 p.m.
Police say at least three other vehicles struck the debris, resulting in deflated tires and minor damage.
The debris appears to be a component used by tow truck operators to tow vehicles, police say. The vehicle has not been found.
