Police interrupt break-in in progress at North York home

Toronto police have arrested a man who was breaking into a North York home and they believe he’s responsible for “a number” of other break-and-enters in the area.
The homeowners called police to 22 Saddletree Dr., near Leslie Street and Steeles Avenue, before 6 a.m. on Thursday. They then left their home, leaving the man inside.
Police brought in the canine unit and the suspect was arrested inside the home.
No one was injured.
Police said Friday that over the past few months, there has been a rise in the number of break-ins in the area, all of them occurring at night while the occupants were home.
Keron Kenton, 25, has been charged with the following:
- 16 counts of Break-and-Enter Commit
- nine counts of Break-and-Enter with Intent
- two counts of Trespassing at Night
- 17 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Possession of Burglars’ Tools
