It appears the New York Rangers will be avoiding arbitration with forward Ryan Callahan.
Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos is reporting that the two sides have agreed on a three-year deal in the ballpark of $13 million.
Callahan, a restricted free agent, was scheduled to have an arbitration hearing on Thursday.
The 26-year-old forward set career highs last season with 23 goals and 25 assists for 48 points in 60 games. In five seasons with the Rangers, the Rochester, NY native has 76 goals and 68 assists in 284 career games.
A fourth-round pick (127th overall) of the Rangers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Callahan carried a cap hit of $2.3 million the last two seasons.
