Youngsters Prepare To ‘Jump Up’ At Junior Carnival

The heights of Caribana are just around the corner, but before the thousands upon thousands prepare to “jump up” big time, the kids like to give it a try. And that’s what happens every year, with the Junior Carnival, a party with participants that have been at it for a long, long time.

One such youngster is 13-year-old Khyle Matthews, who’s been dancing at the Junior Carnival since she was just two years old.

“Just to see everybody dancing and laughing and having fun, it makes you automatically have fun with them,” Khyle said.

The annual tradition will continue this Saturday, and as always is a chance for kids as old as 16 to have a groove of their own, and avoid the craziness that can be the Caribana Parade.

“I love taking part in the Junior Carnival because I just like to dance a lot,” said participant Kidisha Joseph.

The Junior Carnival will take place at the Yorkgate Mall on the northwest corner of Jane and Finch.
