March 29 – StreetBeat – House Up In Flames

There was heavy damage to a Mississauga home in an early morning fire Thursday, but fortunately property was the only thing lost.

Crews poured a massive amount of water trying to douse the flames at a detached house on Claredale Road, near Cawthra and Lakeshore Road around 4:45am.

The family living in the home made it out safely. There’s no indication yet of what sparked the blaze.


Ruinous Wreckage

There were only minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Lawrence just east of the Don Valley Parkway. A truck and a car collided around 8:45am.

Police had to close down the westbound lanes for a time as they dealt with the wreckage. There’s no word on possible charges.


East End Blaze

A three-alarm blaze broke out on Raleigh Ave. near Danforth and Birchmount around 6pm Thursday.

Firefighters rescued two people and both are expected to make full recoveries. There’s no word yet on the cause.


Barrie Shooting

Yellow tape was set up around a house just north of Barrie Thursday evening, where a 43-year-old man was allegedly shot by an OPP officer.

The Special Investigations Unit is now investigating. The man was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
