Beckham Bends It Like Himself And Scores First Goal

It looks like he was worth the cost, after all.

British soccer star David Beckham scored in his first start for the Los Angeles Galaxy on Wednesday against D.C. United.

The goal came after much speculation regarding his $6.7 million yearly salary and a lingering ankle injury.

Beckham joined the team on July 13 but had played only 37 minutes in two previous games because of an ankle problem that didn’t allow him to practice with the Galaxy until Tuesday.

In all, Beckham played 63 minutes during the SuperLiga semi-final game.

Galaxy won the game 2-0 after Beckham’s free kick in the 27 th minute and a goal by Landon Donovan who scored off an assist from Beckham in the 47 th minute.

The Galaxy advanced to the Aug. 29 tournament final in Carson against Mexican club team Pachuca.
