Jets assign forward Cormier to IceCaps

The Winnipeg Jets have assigned forward Patrice Cormier to the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League, the team announced on Thursday.

Cormier split time between the Atlanta Thrashers and AHL’s Chicago Wolves during the 2010-11 season. In 21 games with the Thrashers, he recorded one goal and one assist.

Hockey returns to Winnipeg when the Jets open their season at home against the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 9.
