A 15-year-old boy has been charged with assault causing bodily harm after a stabbing at an Etobicoke school on Monday afternoon.

Police say the suspect became involved in an altercation with a 17-year-old student at Thistletown Collegiate Institute at 20 Fordwich Cres. near Islington Avneue.

The 15-year-old pulled out a knife and stabbed the 17-year-old several times, police allege.

The teen was rushed to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Students at the school told CityNews the stabbing stemmed from an earlier incident where the 15-year-old was attacked by several students inside a school washroom.

“He told us what happened, he was jumped by nine guys in the bathroom and he was so mad and he was running around the school punching stuff…and then he came back…” a student explained.

The teen suspect, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, made a court appearance on Tuesday.
