“Cannibal” Murder Suspect Denies Eating Human Flesh

He says he never ate her flesh. Only his dogs did.

That’s the latest shocking revelation from a gruesome murder case we’ve been telling you about for the last week. Jose Luis Calva has finally broken his silence after police searching for his missing girlfriend showed up at his Mexico City apartment on October 11th and made a horrifying discovery. Body parts were scattered everywhere, including inside a cereal box and his fridge. The dismembered body of the missing woman, 32-year-old Alejandra Galeana, was found in a closet.

And detectives located something else that sickened them – a frying pan with what appeared to be human flesh in it. Calva has now confessed he killed the woman when they argued, then cut off her arm and leg to make it easier to dispose of her remains. But despite the fact that police found an unpublished manuscript he’d written called “Cannibalistic Instincts”, Calva adamantly denied that the crime went further than that.

“He denies having tasted her flesh,” Mexico City’s chief homicide prosecutor Gustavo Salas recounts. “According to him, he thought it was better to cook the meat so he could feed it to the dogs.”

Calva also claims he wasn’t involved in two other similar killings from several years ago. So far, he’s facing just a single count of murder. But one of those previous victims was a woman who once lived with him, and cops are pressing him for more information.

The 40-year-old made his living by selling his writings on the streets of the Mexican metropolis. Books about black magic and films centering on Hannibal Lecter were also found in his apartment. An ex-girlfriend describes the suspect as a man who seems good natured at first, but becomes manipulative and controlling.

He remains in hospital under guard, after injuring himself climbing down several balconies in an effort to escape police.
