The 2020 Democratic field is on the move — and not just to Iowa.
Candidates are starting to venture outside the traditional four early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada.
That signifies Democratic hopefuls’ desire to show voters they can appeal to a wide slice of the electorate. It’s also a reflection of a front-loaded primary calendar in which big states such as Texas and California will vote shortly after the early four.
Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren have already travelled outside the early states as has former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro.
