Toronto police have identified a man who was shot to death in broad daylight last week in the city’s Corso Italia neighbourhood.
Police were called to the area of St. Clair and St. Clarens avenues around 11:40 a.m. on Friday for a report that a person had been shot.
When officers arrived they found a man inside a vehicle with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
In a release on Tuesday, police identified the victim as Farogh Sadat, 37, of British Columbia. He’s the city’s 33rd homicide vicitm of 2020.
Investigators said they believe the suspected shooter was lying in wait. After shooting Sadat, the suspect jumped into the passenger side of a vehicle and took off.
Photos and video from the scene showed a white, late-model GMC Acadia with a shattered driver-side window. The vehicle also had state of California plates.
No arrests have been made.
