COVID-19 positive man used forged document to appear negative at Pearson Airport: police

Peel regional police say a Stratford man who tested positive for COVID-19 forged a document at Pearson Airport to make his test results appear negative.

Investigators with the Peel police airport division were called to Pearson on Monday, February 9th at around 7:00 p.m. after Canada Border Services Agency (CSBA) and Public Quarantine officers spotted the suspect document while conducting checks.

In a release, police said the man’s document “was revealed to be fraudulent, it was, in fact, a positive test result.”

The suspect, a 29-year-old Stratford man, was charged with knowingly using a forged document.

He was released and is scheduled to make a court appearance on April 19.

After being charged, police say they brought the man to a hotel “for the required quarantine period.”
