Police Raid Alleged Bawdy House In Richmond Hill

But some people on the street were apparently aware that something illegal was going on at the address because their tips led to a police investigation that ended in a raid at a home on Castleridge Drive.

Police allege the home was being operated as a bawdy house and that money was exchanged for sex. Investigators claim customers found out about the illegal services being offered through word of mouth, the Internet and newspaper ads.

“Approximately four to five weeks ago we got some tips from the neighbours. They suspected the place was being run possibly as a drug house or possibly a massage parlour type place,” Det. Chris Palmer explained.

“[Neighbours] saw huge amounts of clientele in and out of it on a fairly regular basis until the early hours of the morning. They became concerned, called us, gave us some tips. We began our investigation.”

While the interesting array of people arriving at the home piqued the curiosity of some neighbours, others were completely stunned to learn what allegedly happened inside the house.

“It’s shocking. There’s no way you could possibly have understood that this was going on in this neighbourhood. There’s no telltale signs whatsoever. We’ve been in and out of this area for 18 years, so there is no, no way anyone could have known,” local resident Jason Rodney said.

Suspects’ names haven’t been released and police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7817 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
