Woman’s Nude Photos Emailed Around The World

The marriage of digital photography and email has allowed images to travel around the world in a matter of seconds.   And while that may offer endless opportunity for positive sharing and communication, it can also wreak havoc on the lives of those who have had pictures of themselves in compromising poses circulate throughout the uncharted and virtually lawless abyss of the World Wide Web.

That nightmarish scenario is one Yolando Santos is currently living through.  Her nude photos were e-mailed to hundreds of people and she didn’t find out until they circled the world.

“They went to hundreds of people,” she states.   “I received phone calls from Portugal, from Angola, from England, from the United Kingdom.”

Santos claims that an ex-boyfriend took the photos and began emailing them out without her knowledge. She can’t remember posing for him and as a result went to police claiming she was drugged.

“They told me there is nothing they can do,” she laments.   “No charges to be laid. No law that prohibits these kinds of actions.”

“Even if I gave permission, I gave permission to one man,” she adds.   “Did I give permission to everyone to see myself in this situation?”

“It is excruciatingly embarrassing. I am a woman. I am a mother. My daughter got the same pictures.”

There are no currently no charges pending and Yolanda says she is now stuck with a tainted reputation.
