Tough Year For Fall Food Drive

This Thanksgiving, some of us will be worrying about packing on the pounds. But many more will be worrying where their next meal is coming from.

According to a recent report, demand for food banks in Ontario is up by as much as 20 per cent because of the recession and job losses.

But this also means people are donating less to Daily Bread Food Bank’s annual fall food drive.

The charity hopes to collect $500,000 and 500,000 pounds of food this season, but donations to date are far short of that goal.

Most helpful are baby food and protein, like canned meats and peanut butter. Cash donations are also welcome.
