A 38-year-old man has been convicted of killing his estranged wife and a woman he was trying to frame for the crime.
Christopher Little murdered Julie Crocker and Paula Menendez in February 2007. Menendez was the estranged wife of Rick Ralph, who was dating Crocker at the time.
The jury accepted the Crown’s theory that Little killed Menendez at her home, drove the body back to the Crocker-Little home in Markham and staged it to look as if she had hanged herself in the garage after slitting Crocker’s throat in the bedroom.
The victims’ mothers were in court to hear the verdict.
“I hope he stays in jail forever, forever, for all his life. The crime he committed was tremendous. For me, he’s a monster,” Paula’s mother, Monica Menedez said outside the courtroom.
Little tracked his estranged wife’s movements – once showing up at a hotel room where she was to meet Rick Ralph – another time, testing her clothing for semen.
“I’m relieved that the trial is over and the right verdict has been said, but it doesn’t bring Paula or Julie back,” revealed Julie’s mother, Judy Crocker.
Little will be back in court for sentencing on Friday. Each conviction carries an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.
Crocker and Little had two daughters, aged three and four. They were home at the time of the murders and apparently slept through the brutal attacks. They’re now in the care of other family members.
